Kinja'd!!!

So I had my friend make this for me. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a frac pump. For those of you who don’t know what a frac pump looks like, here’s a pictureI took of one:

Kinja'd!!!

Years ago, he made an outline of one.

Kinja'd!!!

After the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! came out so good, I wanted another painting. If you forgot or didn’t know about it:

So I asked him to make this for me. I think it came out really good. I really like it. Here it is next to the oil well.

Kinja'd!!!

Hung it over my table.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

A few days ago, I asked him if he could also make something for some other friends. They wanted to get something with their cat so I had an idea. I had previously asked him to remove the background of this photo I took of their cat so I could do something with it.

Kinja'd!!!

So he obliged.

Kinja'd!!!

Then I had an idea.

Kinja'd!!!

It took a little while between when we talked about the frac pump to him actually making it. This was same day.

Kinja'd!!!

I know my friends are pretty excited about it.

If you want to check out some more of his stuff:

On that note, out of curiosity, would anyone pay for something like I’ve got? Not necessarily a frac pump or oil well, but something in that style. Also how much would you willing to pay? I’ve been telling him that people like it and will probably pay money for it. So I just want to see what people here think; I’m not going to try and sell anything here . I did pay him for both of these, by the way.

I like them. It contains 3 things I love; contrast, vibrant colors, and wood.

Yeah, everyone likes wood.

These are really cool, and I definitely think people would pay money for them. Would I pay money for them? Probably not, but that’s mainly because that’s money I could spend on parts, and my wife doesn’t share my taste in, well, most things really, so I wouldn’t have a place to hang it.

Nice...even though fracking pumps aren’t that popular around here.

As for making coin out if it...your friend just needs to spend some time with Etsy and similar...just like the Archduke does.

You may have created a whole new genre . Don’t think I’ve ever seen oil machinery depicted in art before.

Since I had a personal connection to the oilfield, I feel like it’s very me. I haven’t seen anything like it before. I wish I was talented enough to do it myself.

That’s fracking awesome. I haven’t been on any frac leases (yet) or big oil rigs (yet) since the company I work for has yet to expand much out of Kansas (hoping to get some juicy stuff in Oklahoma tho!). Looks like fun. I wandered around some drilling ops last year but mostly I’m just looking around at abandoned stuff people want to get rid of these days, lol.

Can be an impressive thing to see the first time.

Depending on the size, I could easily see these going for $300-$500. I wouldn't want oil field machinery myself, but some other subject, like woodland with the paint as a stream, maybe.

I could see that, and I think he could do some other subjects. I just don’t know what else figured the oilfield stuff wasn’t for everyone.
